| Guild of the Christ Child: To welcome our youngest members, these
women of St. Christopher's commit to visit families with newborns to
three years old, sharing prayer, celebrating baptism and holy days, and
materials prepared by the Guild office.
Intercessory Prayer: Each member of the vestry prays for a list of parishioners. In addition, requests for intercessory prayer can be entered into a book in the narthex, from which the Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer officiants make intercessions. Requests may also be telephoned into the office and will be passed to the appropriate persons. Lay Eucharistic Ministers: These specially called members of the parish are trained by the rector and blessed by the bishop to carry Communion to the sick and shut-ins. Lay Readers: These ministers lead Morning and Evening Prayer services during the week in St. Mary's Chapel from The Book of Common Prayer. Based on services held daily in medieval church, these Prayers have been said or sung since the sixteenth century. Office Staff: If prayer and worship are the lifeblood of the parish, then communications are the veins and arteries. The chief vehicles for communication within the parish include bulletins prepared for every service; schedules for lay assistance (lectors, acolytes, chalice bearers, etc.), a monthly calendar of parish activities; the Messenger St. Christophers monthly newsletter; the Welcome! Committee guide; and the parish directory, which is reprinted quarterly. All publications are written and produced by a volunteer staff which also provides various services for the churchs many administrative and clerical needs. |

Nursery Care: Child care for infants and toddlers under the age of three is provided starting about one hour before the second Sunday service and often during special services. The nursery is staffed by one experience child-care provider and volunteers among the parish members offer their services on a rotating basis.
Pastoral Care: This has primarily been the responsibility of our clergy, who offer care, spiritual direction, prayer, and support during times of crisis. The rector visits parishioners in the hospital or those recovering from illness at home. At times, the rector has also involved parishioners in visitations. As a community, however, we also organize ourselves to care for each other in times of crisis and neednot as committee work but as members of a Christian family offering meals, child care, visits, home care, and financial assistance as support when needed.
Teachers: A very special group of dedicated leaders, these individual offer their gifts to students of all ages. (See also Christian Education.)
