Information for Lectors

Attention Lectors!

If you

  • review your Sunday reading at home, but don't own the right Bible translation, OR
  • agreed to trade rota assignments, but don't know what your "new" lesson is,

don't worry! The magic of the internet is here!

"The Lectionary Page" website provides all the information you need from the NRSV - the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible - which is the translation we use in church.

Just bring up the site http://www.io.com/~kellywp/ - or Goggle "The Lectionary Page" and bookmark it so you don't forget. Next

  • click on the month,
  • click on the day on the calendar, and finally
  • click on the letters RCL, for "Revised Common Lectionary," which we now use.

Voila! The full text of the readings for the selected service appears.

If there are two choices (for example, the Old Testament reading and Psalm) we usually use the first one, but you might prepare both just to be on the safe side. You can even print out the readings for yourself and bring them on Sunday . . . OR if you don't have Internet access, stop by the church office and we'll print them out for you.

Another "must" bookmark for lectors is a newly discovered website that provides Scripture pronunciations by both sound and phonetic representation. Visit "Biblical Words Pronunciation Guide" at www.netministries.org

We are grateful for you prayerful preparation of the Sunday readings and want to help you prepare in any way we can.
